Bruce Whealton: On Being a Poet and Other Existential Ideas

In the following posts I have videos from the Anniversary Event on October 8, 2009, for Word Salad Poetry Magazine. I want to thank all of those who came that night for this event. It meant a great deal to me to see you all there. I didn’t know when I started Word Salad on Brucemont Drive in Wilmington, that it would be so popular, celebrated and respected 15 years later. I want to thank all the contributors to Word Salad Poetry Magazine, including those who came, Scott Urban, Ana Ribeiro, Kevin Dublin, John David Capps, Andrea Young, Jeffrey Wyatt (I don’t think we’ve had you in Word Salad yet) and of course Jean Jones. It’s too bad that Wilmington poet contributor, Joe Miller couldn’t be there. I would also thank all those elsewhere, and that includes the whole world, who have contributed to Word Salad.

I think I’ll be releasing a collection of poems soon that will be titled “What Really Matters.” I’ve come to see how valuable the people in our lives are… Friendships and other relationships. That’s what really matters, above all the other goals and distractions of life.
