So we decided to be more than just friends

some one year after we started
seeing each other – she brought it up
because it needed to be said...

I had asked her to go out with me
about a year prior
and a few days later
I heard her tell a co-worker
we were “just friends.”

So be it, I thought,
as long as I was with her
we'd do whatever she wanted.

Now, on this night,
she brought up the topic,
as if it needed to be said,
and it did – just to make it official.

So we decided we were more than
just friends
though the decision had been
made for us some months
back.
