Time Travel

If I believed in science fiction
	and I must say the desire is very strong
and very frightening
I'd want it to be true
that somehow time
travel could be managed.

Imagine a set of possible futures
that we could change
           Imagine a life with lessons that we
could really use.

Sure, you can't get everything right
and fix every mistake we make
but who hasn't said “If only I knew then?...”
I don't even have to finish
the sentence
It's cliché, isn't it.

I would love to believe
but my scientific mind just cannot
though others would tell me there is
a scientific basis for the concept
of time travel -
a view of time as circular
and relative.

Maybe the thing for me
is the fear of letting myself even
entertain the idea of what ifs...
It's scary to think about
what if...
	what if I had done things
differently when -

No!
there's too many regrets -
no, it's just too painful
to think of the past
            and to realize my feelings
of complete and total emptiness
when it comes to thought
about the future.

So I refuse to believe.
